Most people react to their environment based on 5 senses: touching, hearing, tasting, smelling, and seeing. Of the 5, which is most important to you? Most people will agree that their eyes are the most important part of their senses. It is estimated that about 80% of our perception is from our sense of sight. They do say. “Seeing is believing” and “Love at first sight”. At National City Optometry Center, we are dedicated to the health of your eyes and sight.

If you have 20/20 vision, do you still have to see an eye doctor?
The answer is a resounding “Yes!”. Many health issues affect people with perfect eyesight. For example, an infection or eye cancer (ocular melanoma). Not to mention, everyone, regardless of their visual acuity, should wear UV-protection sunglasses to minimize UV damage. Did you know that approximately 20% of the cases of cataracts is because of excessive UV exposure to the eyes?

In the United States, a study has shown that over 75% of adults use one form or another of vision correction. The most common visual issues include myopia (difficulty seeing far), hyperopia (difficulty seeing close), astigmatism (blurry vision), and presbyopia (“reading glasses” needed).

National City Optometry Center offers thorough eye examinations including vision and health testing. Exams usually take 30-40 minutes so there’s no reason to delay!
